Teatro Munganga has been founded in 1986 by four theatre makers from Brazil

What started out with creating a theatrepiece in the Netherlands turned into a long story. Since 1987, Munganga has produced 22 performances and educational projects. The group has performed various times in Europe, South America, Japan and Pakistan.

Munganga (say: moon-gan-gaa) originates from the word mganga, an African tribe. The piests from this tribe are using big and funny gestures during their rituals. They are making funny faces, grimaces, and they are dancing in  order to impress and to affect.

All performances are built arounf happyness, vulnerability, the hope and the power of life. Theatre is like a magic mirror. Sometimes it can wake you up without you would have the feeling that you were sleeping. Sometimes it can take you along into a dreamworld, but also can show you the beauty of reality.
